Poor little disease bag. He looks so soft and fluffy!

The numbers sure don't look so hot for the amphibians.

Little disease bag is right. Poor thing looked like it had plague (which makes me glad I threw away the leather gloves I used to pick it up).

But what I think ultimately killed it (besides some syringe-wielding wildlife worker) was being dropped on its' head by a bird of prey--poor thing had some pretty lethal-looking puncture wounds around the neck and its face was all chewed up. He had a very labored breathing, barely moved...just a mess.

But he was just a BABY. My heart was in that place all child-like hearts go: 'Ooohhh...can we KEEP him??? I'll take care of him, I promise.'

I see what you mean with those amphibians. But honestly, would YOU want to be sent back out there after you've been licked by every forest preserve worker in the joint?

so dirty...
