First time in over a year.
Time to cut the nails and build the calluses.

Music saved me once before...

Damn right, get those calluses back. We gotta have the band up and running by summer!

Ooh--can we call ourselves 'The Widow Capet'???

Or are you gonna insist on 'Colexgeek'. 8^P

btw, Cletus, what do you play? I hear Lorelei is quite the skinflute--erm, I mean, FLUTE player. Not bad on the BONGos, either. 8^D

Hey, now. Don't be a Playa Hata.

...I AM, however, very partial to "Toothless Freida"...

I can growl, rage and stomp about. I also can make bluesy noises with a harmonica if need be.

The fact the you're on the other side of the Atlantic ocean might hinder your commitment to the rehearsal schedule, though.

Funny you should mention Skynyrd, OMC, as I just absolutely tore up a version of "Gimme Three Steps" at a live band country karaoke night a couple months ago.

I'd be there in spirit young man... (Do you know that I have never done/attended karaoke....should it be on my mental to-do list?) But in the car this weekend I have dueted with Captain Beefheart, Blue Nile and Nat King Cole.....but I've always had a problem with lyrics and tend to plough my own furrow that way...even songs that I've known for ever..the occasional word just never stays exactly the same when I sing...

You might want to give it a try if you're ever out carousing with a group of like minded people, it can be great fun.

They have the lyrics on a video screen, so you aren't just operating on memory. In fact, it's kind of a voyage of discovery, as you will discover the actual lyrics to tunes you've been digging your whole life. I had no idea what the real lyrics to "Magic Carpet Ride" were until I did my first Karaoke session many years back.

With the live band version, you just have a sheet with the lyrics written on it, so it is more of a challenge (knowing when to come in is the biggest challenge). Singing in front of a live band is the ultimate performance endorphin rush, however, even more than doing stand-up comedy.
