First Day

My boy starts 5th Grade today.
This is a pic from his first day of Kindergarten.
Which seems just like yesterday.
It's all going by so fast.

How old is Jasper?
Y'now when you are a child you tell your age this way 'I'm seven and a half' or 'it's a WHOLE year until my next birthday' so your son does'nt feel the rapidity of time the way you do...... he is blissfully unaware of that galloping away feeling..that thought sort of comforted me when I felt like you do now...hope this helps!

He's 10 1/2 and actually he feels the passage of time, too. And sometimes it upsets him. Sometimes when I talk about how big he's getting, he'll tear up and tell me he doesn't want me to talk about that.

Lately I've been feeling like I've lost so much time that I could have spent with my son--spent so much of my life energy trying to win the love and acceptance of people who are unwilling or unable to reciprocate. And my boy, who has loved me unconditionally from day one, has waited patiently for what little I have left to give.

I feel like shit because of that.
I am so sorry baby.

You are not a shitty parent. You have not neglected your child as much as you probably feel you have and you still have time to love him. And in a few years the tables may well be turned where he doesn't have time for you as he pursues his "desires". Boy, that's a depressing thought- sorry.

However, (based on personal experience) children from generally happy homes tend to dwell on the positive when reflecting back over their early life and usually think things were batter than the parent believes.

I know you and Brandon have both spend a lot of time loving Jasper and he seems to be very aware that you love and adore him. I doubt there will ever seem to be enough time to heap all the love we feel we should upon our children. The best we can do is make sure that they know we love them and will almost always be there for them when they need us.

thanks hon. I needed to hear that from someone who knows me. I just lose perspective sometimes.

having a brain-splitting headache for the past 15 hours hasn't helped anything either...
