Those 2 a.m. feedings are a bitch.

Now I see where they get the phrase: "A face only a mother could love!"

You and I are real friend of the forest, eh?

OMG, when he opened his eyes and looked at me, I just fell for him (talk about imprinting!!). I was so tempted to raise him myself, but in these early days (he was only about 5 days old) I would have had to feed him every 40 minutes or so for 14 hours each day. And the POOP!! He'd wait until I was either holding him or about to and he'd blow out a big plop. The biggest reason we had to give him up, though, was cuz he was injured (mebbe a broken or at least sprained leg and his belly was completely red and I was afraid he had internal injuries) and I didn't want him to NOT get the proper care.

Sooooo... we brought him to a local woman who rehabilitates injured birds and then reintroduces them to the wild. Yep, we checked him into Celebirdy Rehab. The lady was confident that he'd make a full recovery, so that was a relief. But it felt like I was sending my kid off to Forever Camp, which made me sad.

Oh that mothering instinct, she sure runs deep.

Celebirdy Rehab...Nice one!

It's probably for the best. Your nipples would likely get really sore from those feedings.

Geez...it's all about the nipples and peckers with you, innit.
