Dammit, I need to start exercising.
I've put on 15 pounds and not an ounce of it is muscle.
And to think, I used to have cannons

Hi woman!! I don't even think 'Hi Betty!!' is a particularly widespread American phenom--'tho I'm hoping to make is so, cuz it's brilliant.

It's a Lorelei thing, actually. I think. It's when a lady waves to her friend and calls out 'Hi Betty!!' and her upper arm swings and jiggles like there's no tomorrow. Makes me laugh every time I picture it (except when I picture my own arms doing that. Then it's not so funny.)

This pic, btw, is my father. He used to do some bodybuilding in his youth. As I did...well, actually, I was also a powerlifter for a while (until I injured my back lifting). Wanted to do the bodybuilding thing, just never seemed to be able to loose the excess chubby weight. I was big but never cut.

Me and J just got home from renting a row boat at a nearby forest preserve. Ha!! I was a friggin' joke--never rowed before. Kept turning in circles--it was very funny. My boy did a much better job than me.

Next time, though, a canoe.

Teehee! Actually, my parents' next-door neighbor, Cindy, hatched the genius that is the 'Hi Betty!'

But spread far and wide (much like the flapping of saggy triceps) it must be...

What a wonderful way to take advantage of the day.

The boating, I mean. Not waving yer aged arms around...

Even if you end up only going in circles.

Cos circles are nice. And round.

Ah yes I remember the Hi Betty thing now..and about the weight lifting....I was just having a mental block thing there......
Boating can be great..straight lines, circles, its all good...I used to canoe when I was at school and in the swimming pool it was ok...on the river I was a little less keen....people put strange things in the river...eeeuughh..
Glad you girls are keeping well and having fun though.

I can't imagine you can do too much canoeing in a pool--how does that work? I would think only a couple of strokes and you're at the other end.

I've only canoed once--when I was 19 on a camping trip with friends up in Vermont. Beautiful, tranquil.

Yes..that was where our school taught us the basics..in the pool...we spent a lot of time rolling and inserting our head in the upturned canoe....
Vermont sounds wonderful....
